But What About REIKI ????

Reiki is a energetic healing modality that gained a lot of popularity in this country since about the 1970's. There are many books now written about Reiki and it's practice and it's healing effect on the body, spirit and mind. There are so many websites and books where you can find all sorts of information about Reiki. Instead of re-writing all the other information that is available, I wish instead to share how Reiki has affected my life.

I had been studying meditation and hands on healing methods for a few years when I met a woman who was a Reiki Master. I immediately was attracted to her energy. Debbie was a very friendly and happy woman, she did alot of Reiki healing and she was working in a Metaphysical store. Debbie was also teaching many people Reiki and attuning to all levels.

When I had my first Reiki attunementy knew immediately I was a changed person. I felt all my ancestors around me watching and happy that I was taking this big step in my life. I had tears in my eyes and I felt that wonderful feeling in my heart of having been touched by the 'Hands of God' Debbie was a true pure channel of Reiki's healing energy.

I experienced Reiki as a sweet and gentle energy, that had an intelligence all of its own. I knew that it did not take over the healing method I had already been taught ( AnRa Healing from the Heart, taught at Pathways to Health in Smithtown and now Mt. Sinai )  I felt that the Reiki somehow softened it and empowered it. Through the weeks that followed my first attunement I did the self healing everyday and drank plenty of water and I felt calmer and more centered. It was the first time in a long time in my life I found that inner sense of peace. I waited a year for my level 2 attunement.

My level 2 attunement was different than the first. I did not feel it as much, but again felt different. I learned the distance healing symbol and technique and began to practice that when someone who was far away needed healing. I practiced sending Reiki healing to past issues that needed healing as Reiki knows no timeline :)

I began my Reiki Master level attunements and did not finish with my original teacher, I had gone through many life changes and was in no real rush to teach at that point, Yet I was seeing clients and helping them facilitate change and healing in their lives. Then one day a client expressed learning Reiki from me. I knew I had to finish becoming a Master and through a student of my original teacher I finally did become a Master and a teacher.

To me I would rather be called Reiki Teacher, I feel that no one can Master anything in one lifetime and I am always humbled by all that I learn from others and all the many materials there are available out there now about Reiki. It was not always like that. There were times when Reiki was sort of regarded like a well kept secret that only those with an excess of money could learn.

Now years later all of that has changed .. Many people are able to learn Reiki now and use it to self heal or to heal family or pets or other animals, to teach others and to send healing to the entire world.

I will add some links to some interesting Reiki sites at a later date .. for now just doing a google search will yield many good results :)
