Inviting Ceremony Into Your Life
What are Ceremonies
Almost everyone of us participates in some kind of Ceremony at some point in our lives. The familiar ceremonies are Baptisms, Confirmations, Weddings, and Funerals. There are also Ceremonies in different Faiths and Religions, that celebrate naming a baby, a child coming of age and religious observations.
When we participate in a Ceremony we are sharing an occasion within a circle of family and friends that brings us all together to honor an event in a friend's or family member's life. We share feelings and caring and love with all the participants and at times we share a gift with the person the ceremony is centered around, or pay homage with flowers or a donation to a cause.
Whatever the Ceremony may be, we come together and join hands in celebrating a rite of passage in the life of someone who is special to us.
CREATING CEREMONIES
Anyone can create a Ceremony......
All it takes is an Ocassion to Celebrate, Some Imagination and Planning, and People to Share the Ceremony with.
There are all sorts of Life Transitions that take place that may be celebrated both big with a lot guests and fanfare, or in a small and intimate setting, with a limited number of people. Anything you can think of can be celebrated !
You can create a child leaving home ceremony. Yes people have divorce ceremonies, and ceremonies to welcome in certain seasons of the year, as many of our ancestors did. You may also wish to gather with family or friends to honor someone you have lost, and plan a ceremony in their honor. You can bless a new home ... or bless one you are leaving...
Ceremonies need not always be a huge planned out affair, you can even perform a ceremony alone, all it takes is some intention and a tiny bit of planning and deciding if you wish to do it indoors or out. You can use candles and incense of herbs and oils, anything that makes it feel good to you :)
Ceremonies are an occasion that you can share with just about anyone who wishes to join in the fun. It is a wonderful rite of passage and it is a tradition that we need to bring back a little more into our lives...
If you are interested in a Minister to help you plan and officiate at a traditional ceremony or even one you have created, drop me a line.
I also teach a workshop on creating a ceremony, it can be an interesting way to bond with family or loved ones and meet new people. It can be shared over a weekend .. or once a week for four weeks ..
Ceremonies are a wonderful way to promote family togetherness and enjoying frienships ... I would love to share that time with you ...
